Beautiful Beginnings to Lasting Legacies, the parent organization of Jumping Juniors, was developed to inspire and promote the health and well-being of girls ages five to 18. Through Double Dutch (jump rope), mentorship, and collaboration, the organization seeks to instill lifelong success into the lives of adolescent girls in Chicago. Double Dutch cultivates essential skills like stamina and resilience. It also fosters sportsmanship, team building, and self-confidence, while fostering positive peer interactions.
Jumping Juniors introduces adolescent girls from diverse backgrounds across Chicago to the art of Double Dutch and culturally significant childhood activities. Through the program, participants learn to appreciate diversity, communicate effectively, and collaborate harmoniously through teamwork in executing routines and tricks. In the age of digital technology, Jumping Juniors provides a “screens-free” sanctuary where girls can learn, receive support and celebrate their collective growth. The program implements social emotional learning principles to equip girls with the tools they need to navigate life.
The Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund will help Jumping Juniors expand their program at Emmett Till Elementary, located on Chicago’s South Side. This initiative aims to reach 150 to 200 adolescent girls with the goal of promoting physical well-being through jump rope. Program participants will also develop life skills that bolster self-esteem and foster a sense of community among themselves and their neighborhoods. Jumping Juniors endeavors to create a positive and enduring impact on the lives of its participants, contributing significantly to the overall well-being and vitality of the community.
